Second Day of Angel Falls Tour - Continued

We made it!!! Angel Falls was incredible. Of course, the whole area surrounding Angel Falls was incredible, and I would have believed anyone of a number of these waterfalls was the tallest in the world. But actually hiking up the base of Angel Falls gave a whole new perspective on the matter – it’s as though heaven itself has cracked open and some kind of celestial river is hurtling down to earth. There’s also something mesmerizing about the juxtaposition of the incredible force of the water up near the top of the fall, and the fact that it mostly seems transformed into a diffuse spray by the time it reaches the bottom.

Hiking a bit further on, we came to a little pool at the base of the falls where we braved the cold and the current, and partook of nature’s own supped-up (sp?) Jacuzzi. I somehow managed to actually reach the rock wall behind the pounding water and cling on for dear life for a minute or so. Now I know how Jennifer Beals felt in Flashdance. ;-)
